ERC-20 on Ethereum

Ethereum is the original smart contract platform and has by far the largest DeFi ecosystem. When you launch an ERC-20 token, your contract is deployed to the most battle-tested, most liquid, and most credible blockchain in crypto.

Pros

  • Largest DeFi liquidity (Uniswap, Curve, Aave)
  • Universally supported by every major wallet
  • Strongest institutional credibility
  • Mature tooling: Etherscan, Hardhat, OpenZeppelin
  • EIP-1559 makes gas more predictable

Cons

  • Higher deployment and transaction gas costs
  • Slower block times than BNB Chain or Solana
  • Competitive market - harder for small tokens to stand out

BEP-20 on BNB Chain

BNB Chain (formerly Binance Smart Chain) uses the same Solidity-based token interface as Ethereum, meaning a BEP-20 token is technically almost identical to an ERC-20 token - it just lives on a different chain. The main draw is significantly lower gas fees.

Pros

  • Very low gas fees ($0.05–$0.50)
  • Same Solidity tooling as Ethereum
  • PancakeSwap is the dominant DEX with high volume
  • Easy bridge to/from Ethereum

Cons

  • More centralised than Ethereum (21 validators)
  • Lower DeFi credibility with institutional investors
  • Higher risk of scams/copycat tokens due to low launch cost

SPL Tokens on Solana

Solana uses a different technical architecture entirely - tokens are not smart contracts but are managed by the Solana Token Program (SPL). This allows near-instant finality and negligible fees, which has made it the dominant chain for meme token launches in 2024–2026.

Pros

  • Sub-cent transaction fees
  • ~400ms block times
  • Dominant for meme tokens (Pump.fun, Raydium)
  • Very active retail trading community

Cons

  • Different technical stack (Rust, not Solidity)
  • Smaller DeFi TVL than Ethereum
  • Network outages have occurred historically
  • Less institutional acceptance

ERC-20 on Robinhood Chain (new in 2026)

The newest option, and the fastest-growing. Robinhood Chain launched its public mainnet on 1 July 2026 as an Ethereum Layer 2 built on the Arbitrum Orbit stack. It is fully EVM-compatible and pays gas in ETH, so a Robinhood Chain token is a standard ERC-20, technically identical to one on Ethereum, but deploys for a fraction of the cost. It arrived with Uniswap and Chainlink live from day one and carries the distribution weight of the Robinhood brand, which is why memecoin launchpads such as Pons and hood.fun exploded on it within weeks.

Pros

  • Same ERC-20 standard, same Solidity, same wallets
  • Layer 2 gas costs, pennies per deploy
  • Uniswap and Chainlink live from launch
  • Fresh audience and strong 2026 momentum

Cons

  • Very new, thinner liquidity than Ethereum
  • Fewer integrations than mature chains (yet)
  • Ecosystem tooling still maturing
  • Some launchpads geo-block regions like the UK

Because it is EVM-compatible, you do not need a launchpad to use it. Our Robinhood Chain token creator deploys a plain ERC-20 straight to your wallet. New to the chain? See what pons is and how Robinhood Chain launch options compare.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose Ethereum (ERC-20) if...

You want the most credible, best-supported ecosystem. Building a governance token, DeFi utility token, or anything targeting institutional or serious retail investors. Long-term project with sustainability in mind. Deploy an ERC-20 token today - see our full pricing.

Choose BNB Chain (BEP-20) if...

Your audience is cost-sensitive. You want Ethereum-like tooling at a fraction of the gas cost. Targeting PancakeSwap or BSC-native DeFi users.

Choose Solana (SPL) if...

Speed and cost are the primary concern. Launching a meme token or community currency. Targeting the fast-moving Solana retail trader community. Our sister site SOLTokenLaunch handles Solana SPL tokens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ethereum has the largest DeFi ecosystem and the highest total value locked. Uniswap alone processes billions of dollars in trading volume daily. However, BNB Chain and Solana both have strong communities and their own major DEXes (PancakeSwap and Raydium respectively).
They use the same technical interface (the same Solidity functions), but they are on different blockchains. An ERC-20 token exists on Ethereum; a BEP-20 token exists on BNB Chain. They are not interchangeable unless bridged.
